  6. Every player will get a chance to test themselves.

  7. Every player will want to play the sport next year

  8. Parents will enjoy the season as much as the coaches and athletes

EXPECTATIONS

  1. We expect our players to come to practices and be ready to start on time and commit fully throughout the entire practice.

  2. We expect our players to lead the league in positive sportsmanlike behavior. We will bench players for unsportsmanlike behavior and will not tolerate disrespectful and toxic behavior towards coaches, teammates, competitors, parents or officials. Attitude is as important as ability, and nothing kills success and fun more than toxic behavior and non supporting teammates.

  3. We expect all players to assist the development of their teammates, and be actively committed to encouraging new players in the sport. Advanced players will be paired with junior players to foster skill development and camaraderie. Experienced players will be forced to use and develop off hand skills as a prerequisite to advancing or playing up.

  4. We expect our players to play to learn and not necessarily to win youth-level games. Winning at the youth level does not mean a player will have future success if the team cannot field multiple lines with adequate skill.

  5. We expect our players to become well-conditioned athletes during the season. Lacrosse is the fastest sport on two legs and requires endurance. We will run regularly in practice as part of our commitment to physical conditioning.

  6. We expect our parents to lead by example and demonstrate great sportsmanship towards our opponents, referees, and fans. We expect parents to help their children arrive to practices and games on time, fully dressed, with all the right equipment in all the right places. We hope that our parents will support Dunlap Lacrosse as volunteers, team parents, and assistant coaches.

  7. We expect our coaches to facilitate a healthy learning environment for their team and to focus on improving the progress the team makes regarding effort and teamwork in addition to the outcome of a game or record.  Practices will emphasize player skills and maximizing touches for players to develop ball sense. Our coaches will instill a positive attitude in all players will conduct themselves and their team in a manner that represents our program, town and sport well. We expect our coaches to attend coaching clinics and attain certifications to enable them to help our players even more.
